Taken from the official consolidations, and checked against them. Every section links straight to the official government source, and each document's “current to” date is listed on the Methodology page.

Pick your province or territory on the map first, or choose Compare Atlantic to see NL, NB, NS & PE side by side.
Informational tool only — not legal advice or an official interpretation. An independent tool, not a product of any government, safety authority or workers' compensation board. Confirm anything workplace-critical with the relevant provincial safety authority, your OHS committee, or a qualified safety professional.
Ask a question above to get started.
The more specific, the better — name the hazard, the task, and what you need (a number, a requirement, or a definition). A broad question pulls a broad section; a precise one pulls the exact section. The examples show the shape. One thing at a time works best — a question that bundles several separate requirements may be answered only in part, so ask multi-part questions one at a time and check each answer against its own cited section.

Why you can trust the answer

Because you never have to take our word for it.

A general chatbot answers from memory, and can invent a citation that looks real. Ask Canada Safety answers only from the Acts and regulations themselves, and puts the section each answer came from right beside it. The answer is a summary. The section is the law.

How you can check it

We don't claim perfection. We make every answer checkable.

  • Every section is taken from the government's official text and checked against it, section by section.
  • Every answer links to the section it came from and to the government's own copy. The official text governs.
  • A few tables are set out as readable rows. Those are listed on the Methodology page.
  • When we find an error, we correct it against the official text.
