In your browser. Local storage (not a cookie) remembers that you have passed the entry screen. When guest limits are on, it also keeps the times of your recent searches to show how many guest searches you have left; that list stays in your browser. It also remembers which upcoming law changes you have already seen on the Updates page, so the Updates tab stops counting them. Clearing your site data removes all of this.
Voice input. Your browser turns your speech into text and may use its maker’s speech service to do it (for example, Google in Chrome). We receive only the text, never the audio.

We do not sell data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Questions, ratings and feedback are kept while they help us improve the tool. Hashed IP records are deleted after seven days. Unsubscribing stops all email; the address is kept as unsubscribed unless you ask us to delete it.
We may update this policy. Using the tool after a change is posted means you accept it.
